Step 5   Check the presence of the lock-nut.   Check if the upper moving part can move freely. If not see page 8 step 9 to adjust. •



Step 6   Clean the blades after use.   Check the blades for damage, remove upsettings on the blades. Use a file and abrasive paper.   Blades can be turned one time 120°.   Replace, or turn blades 120° when blades are damaged.   See page 7 “replacing “replacin g the blades” to replace the blades.   Lubricate the blades after use with preservative oil WD-40. •

Step 7   Check the presence of both locking screws.   Both lock bolts should be tightened firmly. •



Step 8  8    The best cutting results are obtained if the blades (jaw opening) are open 0.5 mm to 1 mm at the end of the cutting movement.   See page 9 “Adjusting the plunger stroke” to adjust the plunger stroke. •

Step 9   Spray Teflon lubricating lubricat ing oil on and between the moving parts of the centre bolt B while the  tool is opening and closing (cover not shown). •

Step 10  10    Clean/dry the tool with soft cloth before storing it.   Lightly oil steel parts with preservative oil WD-40.   Store the cutter in a dry and well-ventilated area. •







 

Do not close theso cutter, always a few mmfully for opening, that the tool keep can be stored without pressure.

Step 1   Check the operation of the tool by opening and closing the cutter 2 times. t imes.   No cracking sounds can be heard.   Check the tool for damage and leaking. If the tool doesn’t work properly and/or leaks, contact the Holmatro dealer. •

Step 1   Check general condition cutter.   Check for oil leakage. Repair when leaking.   Check readability readabilit y model and serial number.   Check condition of protective cover.   Replace the cover when: o  Tears are such that the operator can get trapped between moving parts. •

Step 1   Clean the blades after use.   See chapter “Replacing the blades” for removing, and replacing the blades. •



Step 2  2    Check the blades for damage, remove upsettings on the blades by grinding.   Blades can be turned one time 120°.   Replace, or turn blades 120° when parts are broken-out our are damaged.   See page 7 “replacing “replacin g the blades” to replace the blades.   Lubricate the blades after use with preservative oil WD-40. •

Replacing the blades Wear full protective gear during maintenance ! Always act according to the safety instructions as supplied with each tool ! Contact the Holmatro dealer if one of the items does not work properly !   Necessary equipment: see check list page 12. •

Step 1  1    Open the blades as much as possible.   Disconnect the tool from the pump. •



Step 2  2    Remove both locking screws C.   Remove both adjusting screws D.   Remove both blades A+K manually.   If it is not possible to remove the blades manually, follow step 7 through 10. •

Step 3   Clean the blades properly.   The blades have 2 different lengths.   Short blade (35mm) for the moving part of the cutter.   Long blade (40mm) for the fixed part of the the cutter.   Clean the openings in the jaws properly. •









Step 4   If the blades are in good condition, turn them 120º. If not, install new blades.   Blades can be turned one time.   Position both blades with the curve of the opening pointing forward.   If the blades cannot be mounted manually. Do not use a hammer. •

Adjusting the plunger stroke  Wear full protective gear during maintenance ! Always act according to the safety instructions as supplied with each tool ! Contact the Holmatro dealer if one of the items does not work properly !   Necessary equipment: see check list page 12. •

Step 1  1    The best cutting results are o obtained btained if the blades blades   (jaw opening) are open 0.5 mm to 1 mm at the end of the cutting movement. •

Step 2  2    Open the blades as much as possible.   Disconnect the tool from th the e pump.   Remove both screws L an and d the protection cover  cover    M.   Remove both screws F and the spring of the plunger.   Remove the plunger cap J. •









Step 3  3    Use a screwdriver to adjust the adjustin adjusting g screw A to increase or decrease the stroke.   Hold the plunge plungerr in while screwing.   Turn the adjusting scre screw w A counterclockwise to increase the stroke.   A turn of 90° makes the jaw open opening ing ± 0.5 mm larger or smaller. •

Step 4   Place the plunger cap J correctly on the plunger. See above.   Install both screws F and the spring in th the e plunger and tighten them hand tight.   Attach the protection cove coverr with both screws L.   Spray Teflon lubricating oil on and betwe between en the moving parts of the centre bolt B while the upper moving part is opening and closing. •

When: - safety valve (return line failure) control handle has been activated during use and is still leaking oil (see picture 1 below).

Step 4  4    Mount the spring in the right way.

Step 5  5    Reassemble the parts, check that the center pin of the handle is positioned between the two ends of the spring.  spring. 

Step 6 (only for tools with pigtail hoses)  hoses)    Re-assemble handle with Allen key No. 5, set the torque of both bolts at 12 Nm.

Step 7 (only for 4000-series tools with Core connection)   connection)   Re-assemble handle with Allen key No. 3, set the torque of both bolts at 8 Nm.

Step 8   Re-assemble cover with Allen key No.4. 

Step 9 Test the handle by opening and closing the cutter a several times. The handle should operate smoothly.
