WORK EXPERIENCE * Concluded advanced Spanish studies at The University of Buenos Aires in Argent ina - year+ program (2010 - 2011). October 2007 - December 2009 National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) Partnership Manager: Foundation for Hospices in Sub-Saharan Africa (Alexandria, VA) Underneath the parent company of NHPCO and as the Partnership Manager for FHSSA, I worked to support organizations in their development and provision of hospice and palliative care in sub-Saharan Africa. Duties included overseeing, directin g, and growing the FHSSA Partnership Initiative, whereby hospices and other orga nizations in the United States established partnerships with hospices, palliativ e care programs, and other organizations in Africa. I served as more than just a conduit for linking U.S. and African partners; I wo rked together as a change agent for organizations in the U.S. seeking to be a gl obal partner in the world of hospice and palliative care. Through international work with the African Palliative Care Association in Uganda (APCA) and Hospice P alliative Care Association in South Africa (HPCA), I added 35 new partnerships i n less than two years. In addition to managing 166 partnerships, we increased the amount of money wired overseas to more than $550,000, which allowed for the expansion of quality care to over 55,000 people. Examples of responsibilities included: * Extended and implemented strategic and operational plan for African and Americ an partnerships; * Collaborated with counterparts at APCA and HPCA to manage the FHSSA Partnershi p Initiative; * Assessed existing partnerships, developed and implemented coaching plans for t heir long term success; * Recruited heavily in the U.S. for new American partners, including outreach to the top 50 leading hospice programs, including for-profit and non-profit organi zations; * Developed all policies, procedures, evaluations, and reporting mechanisms for use in the partnership program, including but not limited to applications, toolk its, annual reports, operating policies, fund transfer processes, donation ackno wledgement letters, website content, design, etc.; * Staffed the Committee of the Board of Directors that oversaw the partnerships; * Guided the FHSSA Partnership Advisory Council; * Oversaw and coordinated communication to, from, between, and among partners; * Shared in the leadership activity and overall Work Plan of FHSSA, as assigned. In addition, I presented nationally and internationally on various topics that s upport the provision of hospice and palliative care services in sub-Saharan Afri ca. FHSSA is an affiliate of the U.S National Hospice and Palliative Care Organi zation (NHPCO). Recent highlights as moderator and speaking credits include: * Hospice and Palliative Care Association of South Africa Annual Conference, Cap e Town, South Africa - August 2008; * Catholic Relief Services Conference, Continuum of Care Forum on HIV/AIDS, Wash ington D.C. - September 2009; * The University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, Fresno Medical Education Program, Second Annual International Conference "Hospice and Palliativ e Care in Developing Countries" - September 2009; and * The National Hospice and Palliative Care Clinical Conference, Denver, Colorado - Sept. 2009.

December 2005 - October 2007 Leaders for Equality and Action in Dayton Executive Organizer: LEAD (Dayton, OH) During my time with the LEAD Organization, I wrote 25 grant proposals, generatin g a total of $166,000 dollars; constructed 18 faith-based fundraising teams, rai sing $30,000 locally; and conducted a total of 61 corporate visits, resulting in a total investment of $28,000 during the Annual Support Drive. I recruited 13 p rospective congregations and increased membership by 30% with the addition of 3 large Catholic churches and 1 faith based organization. I was responsible for 6 0% of the LEAD constituency - working to establish, develop, and coordinate each faith based organization's Justice Ministry. LEAD constituency continues to re presents over 20,000 members - an increase of 200% - during my tenure. I organized the following events: Two Community Problems Assemblies with an aver age of 175 attendants; Two Issues Research Trainings with an average of 75 parti cipants; a fall Rally with 150 leaders in attendance; and one very large public Action Assembly, where 4 City Commissioners and the Superintendent of Dayton Pub lic Schools made commitments to specific issue demands in front of a crowd of mo re than 600 people. I was also responsible for the coordination and preparation of monthly board meetings, clergy caucuses, annual reports, bi-monthly and quart erly leadership development trainings. I successfully trained and managed one D. A.R.T. Organizer Trainee and supervised the development of two associate organiz ers. Additionally, I oversaw 3 active issue committees, each addressing specifi c problems in the areas of Education, Transportation and Youth. I presented information at two National Clergy Conferences in February 2006 and 2007; two Regional Support Drive Training Events in March 2006 and 2007; two Nat ional Advanced Leadership Trainings in May of 2006 and 2007; two 5-Day National D.A.R.T. Training Events in June 2006 and 2007; and two 7-Day Classroom Training s for D.A.R.T. Organizer Trainees in June 2006 and 2007. On January 15, 2007, I accepted on behalf of the LEAD Organization, The 2006 Champion of Social Justice Award given by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). October 2005 - November 2005 Tallahassee Equality Action Ministry Associate Organizer: TEAM (Tallahassee, FL) During the limited time spent as an Associate Organizer with the TEAM Organizati on, I facilitated and strategized with local pastors and lay leaders on a campai gn to improve public transportation and implement a comprehensive health care pl an to address the 18,000 uninsured residents in Tallahassee. June 2005 - October 2005 DART Organizer's Institute Organizer Trainee: Tallahassee Equality Action Ministry (TEAM) As the only summer intern with the TEAM Organization, I worked with 11 congregat ions and recruited 3 new member churches, representing a constituency of more th an 1500 people. In addition to building relationships within each congregation, I formed strong core congregational Justice Ministry Teams in 5 member congregat ions. I also implemented one Re-Thinking Justice Workshop, with an attendance of 110 people and representation from 10 different faith congregations. September 2003 - June 2005 AmeriCorps: Downriver Cares Program Organizational Manager: MelNap School-Based Services (Melvindale, MI) As a two-year AmeriCorps member working in an after-school based service program for high-risk youth in Melvindale, MI, my school organizational responsibilitie s included maintaining client records and assuring accuracy with documents; crea ting and distributing a monthly EXCEL calendar to families, secretaries, adminis trators, counselors, etc.; completing requests; filing and data processing. My weekly educational responsibilities included the following: facilitating grou p discussions and leading games; meeting with 6th-10th grade students regularly; tutoring the middle school youth; meeting and mentoring the high school student

s; and volunteering each month with different service organizations. During the 2003-2004 service year I served as a Michigan AmeriCorps Member Counc il Representative for the Downriver community, emceed at the Michigan AmeriCorps Celebration, and the Russ Mawby Michigan's AmeriCorps Signature Service project . September 2001 - December 2001 Pretrial Services Agency Intern with PSA: Failure to Appear Unit (Washington, D.C.) Interviewed defendants who voluntarily surrendered on bench warrant matters. Ha ndled courtroom requests from Judges, U.S. Attorney's Office and Defense Counsel . Entered data and retrieved information from local, state and federal law enfo rcement databases. Government certified in computer database systems: BARS, BAS S, WALES, NCIC, and D.C. Superior Court system. November 2000 - November 2001 Beloit College, WI Ronald E. McNair Scholar (Beloit, WI) Conducted independent research focused specifically on advertising art in the Lo ndon Underground. Wrote a research paper and orally presented this topic and a visual presentation at the Ronald E. McNair Conferences at Pennsylvania State Un iversity and at the University of Puerto Rico in 2001.
