How many squares do you see?
We’ve all seen this puzzle running aboot on FB:

I thought I’d post my solution and see what I may have missed…

1. 16 + 2 squares as shown in the 1st pic.
2. 4 corner squares as shown in the 2nd
3. 4 edge squares as shown in the 3rd
4. 1 centre square as in the 4th

5. 4 larger corner squares as in the 5th
6. 8 smaller squares as in the 6th
7. The largest square that encompasses all the others
Quick addition — 16 + 2 + 4 + 4 + 1 + 4 + 8 + 1 = 40
