Dear Parents, At the last High School Parent Coffee for the year, I took the opportunity to thank many of the parents who have been involved in various capacities this year. We also invited a number of “talking experts” to summarize their respective HS programs over the course of this year. Curt Nichols commented on exciting times in the Counseling area, with the addition of an extra counselor for next year and continued strong college acceptances for this year’s senior class. Fred Biggar spoke of IT improvements, including the plan to open a Mac Kiosk onsite in August. More details to follow on this exciting development. Mark Pekin talked about our extensive ATAC and IASAS program and of the successful hosting of both IASAS Soccer and the Art and Music Convention. Vicki Close described some of our wonderful Fine and Performing Arts experiences this year and commented about how well these skills fit into twenty first century learning competencies. Sandy van Nooten commented on IB developments and the ongoing exams. Neil Woods summarized the service learning program and Mike Dickinson and I attempted to provide some context to the HS goals that we had set ourselves for this year. It has been a truly rewarding educational experience for both faculty and students and once again I look eagerly forward to improving on an already solid foundation as we make plans for next year. At this time of the year it is always difficult to say farewell to faculty who for various reasons have decided to move on from ISM and or Manila. I would like to mention the outstanding service to ISM of the following people: Mona Lisa Morrison, Rebecca Gillman, Evelise Vaoga, Laura Gerken, Ron Fast, Ramon Ibero, Donald Egbuji and Simon Cheatle. I would like to thank all departing faculty for their tremendous contributions to the High School program. The month of May is always very busy as we finish one academic year and plan for the next. I would like to remind all parents that on Monday May 24th we have the High School Honors and Awards Ceremony and later that week on Friday May 28th we have High School Graduation. The Junior-Senior Prom is to be held on Saturday May 22nd at the New World Hotel Ballroom, Makati. I would like to extend a warm invitation to parents to attend the HS Honors and Awards Assembly. The High School Office will notify all parents of students who will be receiving an award. It is our annual opportunity to honor student excellence in the areas of academics and outstanding service to the school.

Kind regards,

William R. S. Brown High School Principal

Michael Dickinson High School Assistant Principal
