LAST WEEK’S HIGHLIGHTS vs. Worcester (2/14): Right wing Tyler Toffoli tallied his second hat trick of the season and center Linden Vey recorded four assists as the Manchester Monarchs topped the Worcester Sharks, 5-1, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. Left wing Tanner Pearson and center Jordan Weal joined Toffoli on the scoreboard for the Monarchs. Center Freddie Hamilton scored the lone goal for the Sharks. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (13-3-2) earned 13th win of the season, stopping 23-of-24 shots. Sharks netminder Troy Grosenick (11-6-0) took his sixth loss of the season, stopping 38 of the 43 shots he faced in the game. Manchester was 2-for-6 on the power play. Worcester went 1-for-3 with the man advantage. @ Hartford (2/15): The Manchester Monarchs’ special teams were clicking as they were 3-for-6 on the power play in their 4-2 defeat of the Hartford Wolf Pack at the XL Center on Saturday night. Right wing Brian O’Neill and center Linden Vey both scored for the Monarchs while right wing Tyler Toffoli added two tallies. Center Darroll Powe and defenseman Danny Syvret each scored one goal for the Wolf Pack. Goaltender Martin Jones (14-3-2) collected his 14th win of the season, stopping 34-of-36 saves he faced in the game. Wolf Pack netminder David LeNeveu (3-6-0) lost his sixth game of the season with 24 saves on 27 shots. Manchester was 3-for-6 on the power play. Hartford went 0-for-5 with the man advantage. vs. St. John’s (2/16): Manchester Monarchs’ goaltender Martin Jones stopped all four of the St. John’s IceCaps snipers he faced to secure a 4-3 shootout victory at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday afternoon. Left wing Nick Deslauriers scored twice and left wing Steve Quailer scored his first goal in a Monarch uniform. Left wing Carl Klingberg and centers Adam Lowry and John Albert each collected one tally for the Wolf Pack. Monarchs forward Nick Shore and center Jordan Weal were able to beat IceCaps netminder Michael Hutchinson in the shootout. St. John’s was unable to score on four shootout attempts. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (15-3-2) earned his 15th win of the season, stopping 40-of-43 shots he faced in regulation and all four IceCaps snipers during the shootout. Hutchinson (7-4-1) took his first shootout loss of the season with 21 saves on 24 shots. -More-

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES The Manchester Monarchs (34-14-2-5) are ranked first in the Atlantic Division with 75 points. The Providence Bruins (28-18-1-6) rank second in the division with 63 points. The St. John’s IceCaps (28-19-1-3) sit in third place in the Atlantic Division with 60 points each. The Worcester Sharks (23-22-3-1) are ranked fourth in the Atlantic Division with 50 points. The Portland Pirates (19-21-2-7) sit in fifth place in the division with 47 points. The Monarchs are ranked 26th in the American Hockey League on the power play with 32 goals on 221 attempts. Manchester is ranked 16th in the league on the penalty kill stopping their opponent 188-of-229 times. The Monarchs have had the most success on Saturdays as they have compiled an overall record of 15-4-0-1 on Saturdays. Manchester currently leads the Eastern Conference and the AHL with 75 points through 55 games this season. The Monarchs are currently on a four-game winning streak. Former Monarchs and current Los Angeles Kings forward Dustin Brown and goaltender Jonathan Quick are competing for the U.S. Olympic Men’s Hockey team in Sochi, Russia. In the first three games of the Olympics, Brown has two points (1-1=2) and a plus-3 rating. Quick has stopped 50-of-53 shots in a 7-1 win over Slovakia and a 3-2 shootout win over Russia. Former Monarchs and current Kings defenseman Slava Voynov is representing Team Russia at the 2014 Olympics. Voynov has two shots and a plus-1 rating in three games thus far in the Olympics. Center Jordan Weal (12-34=46) leads the Monarchs with 34 assists and 46 points. Weal is tied for fourth in the AHL with 34 assists. Weal is tied for ninth place in the AHL with 46 points. Left wing Nick Deslauriers (17-19=36) ranks second on the Monarchs with 36 points and 76 penalty minutes. Deslauriers leads the Monarchs and ranks second in the AHL with 194 shots on goal. Deslauriers set season-high point and assist streaks earlier this month, collecting one goal and six assists in six games dating from January 25 to February 8. Center Linden Vey (11-24=35) ranks third on the team with 35 points. Vey ranks second on the Monarchs with 24 assists. Vey is the Monarchs seventh all-time leader with 93 assists from 2011 - present. Vey collected his third four-point game when he tallied four assists in Friday’s 5-1 win over the Sharks. He holds the franchise record with three four-point games in his Monarchs career. Vey recorded a goal and six assists in his last three games. Vey has also collected five assists in 15 games with the Kings this season. -More-

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES (CONTINUED) Left wing Tanner Pearson (17-15=32) is ranked third on the Monarchs with 32 points. Pearson and Deslauriers are tied for the team lead with 17 goals each. Pearson has recorded one point, a goal, in eight games with the Kings this season. Forward Nick Shore (7-19=26) ranks fifth on the Monarchs with 26 points. Shore and Deslauriers are tied for third on the team with 19 assists. Right wings Brian O’Neill (12-12=24) and Tyler Toffoli (15-9=24) are tied for sixth place on the Monarchs with 24 points. O’Neill is tied with Weal for fourth place on the Monarchs with 12 goals each. O’Neill and Deslauriers are tied for second on the Monarchs with three game-winning goals. O’Neill and Weal are tied for third amongst forwards in the AHL and tied for ninth overall in the league with a plus-16 rating. Toffoli was named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending February 16. Toffoli ranks third on the Monarchs with 15 goals. Toffoli leads the Monarchs with four game-winning goals.

Toffoli recorded his second hat trick of the season and fourth of his Monarchs career in the team’s 5-1 win over the Sharks on Friday night. Toffoli holds the record for the most career hat tricks in a Monarchs uniform. Toffoli has nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in 37 games with the Kings. Left wing Andy Andreoff (8-14=22) is ranked eighth on the Monarchs with 22 points. Andreoff leads the Monarchs with 113 penalty minutes. Defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk (5-15=20) ranks ninth on the Monarchs with 20 points. Bodnarchuk ranks second on the Monarchs and tied for second in the AHL with a plus/minus rating of plus-30. Right wing Scott Sabourin (10-9=19) sits in 10th place on the Monarchs with 19 points. Defensemen Vincent LoVerde (2-13=15), Derek Forbort (1-14=15) and right wing Sean Backman (7-8=15) tied for 11th on the Monarchs with 15 points each. LoVerde leads the Monarchs and the AHL with a plus-33 rating. Defenseman Andrew Campbell (2-8=10) is the all-time games played leader in Monarchs history with 399 games played. -More-

Goaltender Martin Jones made his National Hockey League debut with the Kings against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, December 3. He backstopped the Kings to a 3-2 shootout victory, including going 9-for-9 in the shootout. Jones picked up his first NHL shutout by stopping all 16 shots he faced in the Kings 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday, December 7. The rookie netminder then stopped all 31 shots he faced in the Kings 6-0 shutout of the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, December 10. In 13 games with the Kings, Jones has collected a record of 8-4-0, a .940 save percentage, a 1.71 goals-against-average, and three shutouts. Jones’ eight wins tied the NHL record for consecutive winning games to start an NHL career with netminder Bob Froese who won his first eight games with the Philadelphia Flyers during the 1982-83 season. Jones is the first goaltender in NHL history to allow an average of less than one goal per game while winning the first eight appearances of his career. Jones is the third goaltender in NHL history to record three shutouts in his first six starts. Goaltender Flat Walsh accomplished the feat with the New York Americans during the 1928-29 season and netminder Frank Brimsek did it with the Boston Bruins during the 1938-39 season. Jones has an overall record of 15-3-2 with a 2.01 goals-against-average, a .934 save percentage, and two shutouts in 20 games with the Monarchs this season. Jones is currently on a four-game winning streak. Jones leads AHL goaltenders with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage this season. Jones ranks in the top 10 all-time in the following Monarchs goaltending categories: Games played – 156 – first place Wins – 83 – first place Losses – 57 – first place Ties/Shootout Losses – 9 – tied for second place Goals-against-average – 2.41 – eighth place Save percentage – .922 – tied for sixth place Shutouts – 12 – third place Saves – 4,237 – first place Goaltender Jean-Francois Berube registered a 14-8-2 record in 24 consecutive starts during Jones’ first stint with the Kings. Berube set a franchise record for consecutive appearances by a goaltender with 20 games on December 29. His current record-setting streak sits at 24 consecutive games. He surpassed the feat of 19 games set by netminders Travis Scott from February 19 – March 22, 2003, and Jason LaBarbera from November 19 – December 29, 2006.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES (CONTINUED) Berube has collected a 19-13-2 record with a 2.43 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage in 34 games with the Monarchs this season.

Berube recorded his first AHL shutout by stopping all 28 shots he faced in the Monarchs 6-0 win over the IceCaps on Saturday, January 18. He was recalled by the Kings for the first time on February 7.
