1. POLICY
This policy will apply whenever an employee serves overtime work.
2. PURPOSE
To establish guidelines for overtime work done by the employees of the
company
There may be times when AlHamra cannot meet its operational requirements
or other needs during regular working hours. If this happens, we may give
employees the opportunity to work hours that exceed the normal working
day. It is our policy that no overtime can be worked without the approval and
authorization of the respective manager.
3. SCOPE
These procedures apply to all the existing and potential employees and
contract workers
4. RESPONSIBILITIES
 The respective manager would be responsible for permitting the
employee to work overtime
 The employee should ensure that the overtime work permission is
made in writing
 The HR coordinator/manager should make sure that the overtime work
hours are properly accounted
 The finance manager should ensure that the overtime payment has
been done as per the extra hours worked in coordination with HR

5. PROCEDURE
5.1

Permission in writing from the manager

The employee should be informed in advance, in writing, about the over
time that he need to serve the company by his direct manager.
5.2
Ensure “punch-in” and “punch-out” for the extra hours worked by the
employee
The employee should make sure that his/her attendance is marked for the
extra hours that he/she worked
5.3
HR should ensure that the overtime work is calculated as per the
Kuwait Labor Law which is as follows:
As per Kuwait Labor Law, Article No.66 and 67, the overtime pay is
as follows:


1.25 times the basic hourly rate for excess hours worked on regular
working days



1.50 times the basic hourly rate for all hours worked on the weekly
day of



Twice the basic hourly rate for all hours worked on public holidays

Overtime is only limited to 2 hours a day, 6 hours per week and should
not exceed 30 days in a year. Every employee has the right to refuse to
render overtime work.
5.4
The finance department should prepare the payment for the overtime
hours worked by the employee in coordination with HR department
