Lab 4. 4. Singl e Phase Power
PRELAB. To be submitted submitted to your instructor at the beginning of the lab session session
1. Calculate the values for I1, I2, IT, ER1, ER2, EL, EC, P1, P2, and PT. Use R 1 = 25Ω and Ω
R 2 = 25 2. Explain the meaning of power factor an how do you calculate it. 3. Explain what is a Power Triangle in an electric circuit and how do you calculate it. LABORATORY EXPERIMENT
1. Connect the circuit above. Draw the schematic showing where the m meters eters for all measurements should go. 2. Record the following data: I1, I2, IR , ER1, ER2, EL, EC, P1, P2, and PT. 3. From the data obtained in step #2, determine the following: a. b. c. d. e. f.
The power factor in both branches and the overall power factor. Construct, to scale, a vector diagram of the three currents. Construct, to scale, a vector diagram for the voltages in branch one and branch two. Construct, to scale, a power triangle for the overall circuit. Determine, by calculations, the actual value of the inductor in henrys and the capacitance in microfarads. Determine, by calculations, the resistance of the coil.
