PREPAID SMART CARD FOR PETROL BUNK SYSTEM
Objective:
The objective of this project is to provide easy access and save time in
the petrol bunk.
Scope:
This project is made the automated petrol bunk. The customer need
not wait in the petrol bunk. It reduces the time as well as man power.
Brief Meto!o"o#$:
This project is designed with
• Microcontroller
• Prepaid card
• Relay with driver circuit
• Keypad
• !" display
In this project the customer having the prepaid card. The card is
nothing magnetic member is embedded in the card. The reader circuit
generates majestic signal to read the majestic number. #hen customer
inserting this card on the reader$ the reader reads that majestic number and
given the corresponding signal to microcontroller. In microcontroller we
have already programmed. %o it checks the number wheather it is related to
&indus than Petroleum$ 'harat Petroleum or Reliance Petroleum card
corresponding information is displayed on the !" display. The keypad is
used to enter the (uantity of petrol. In microcontroller we already set time
for liters. #hen you entered the desired (uantity on the keypad.
Microcontroller activates the relay driver for that particular time period.
The driver circuit is used to turn )*$ turn )++ the relays. Relay
output is directly connected to petrol pump. %o it pumps the petrol as per our
desired (uantity entered in the keypad. The petrol (uantity and their
corresponding cost are displayed on the !" display. &ence this project
made the automated petrol bunk in coder to save time and manpower.

BLOCK DIA%RAM DESCRIPTION
SMART CARD

, smart card$ chip card$ or integrated circuit-s& card -I!!.$ is defined
as any pocket/si0ed card with embedded integrated circuits. ,lthough there
is a diverse range of applications$ there are two broad categories of I!!s.
Memory cards contain only non/volatile memory storage components$ and
perhaps some specific security logic. Microprocessor cards contain memory
and microprocessor components.
The standard perception of a 1smart card1 is a microprocessor card of credit
card dimensions -or smaller$ e.g. the mini 2%M %IM card. with various
tamper/resistant properties -e.g. a secure crypto/processor$ secure file
system$ human/readable features. and is capable of providing security
services -e.g. confidentiality of information in the memory.. *ot all chip
cards contain a microprocessor -eg. the memory cards.$ therefore not all chip
cards are necessarily also smart cards. &owever$ the public usage of the
terminology is often inconsistent.

MICROCONTROLLER
INTRODUCTION TO MICROCONTROLLER
Microcontrollers are destined to play an increasingly important role in
revolutioni0ing various industries and influencing our day to day life more
strongly than one can imagine. %ince its emergence in the early 34567s the
microcontroller has been recogni0ed as a general purpose building block for
intelligent digital systems. It is finding using diverse area$ starting from
simple children7s toys to highly comple8 spacecraft. 'ecause of its
versatility and many advantages$ the application domain has spread in all
conceivable directions$ making it ubi(uitous. ,s a conse(uence$ it has
generate a great deal of interest and enthusiasm among students$ teachers
and practicing engineers$ creating an acute education need for imparting the
knowledge of microcontroller based system design and development. It
identifies the vital features responsible for their tremendous impact$ the
acute educational need created by them and provides a glimpse of the major
application area.
MICROCONTROLLER
, microcontroller is a complete microprocessor system built on a
single I!. Microcontrollers were developed to meet a need for
microprocessors to be put into low cost products. 'uilding a complete
microprocessor system on a single chip substantially reduces the cost of
building simple products$ which use the microprocessor7s power to
implement their function$ because the microprocessor is a natural way to
implement many products. This means the idea of using a microprocessor
for low cost products comes up often. 'ut the typical 5/bit microprocessor
based system$ such as one using a 956 and 565: is e8pensive. 'oth 565:
and 956 system need some additional circuits to make a microprocessor
system. ;ach part carries costs of money. ;ven though a product design may
re(uires only very simple system$ the parts needed to make this system as a
low cost product.
To solve this problem microprocessor system is implemented with a
single chip microcontroller. This could be called microcomputer$ as all the
major parts are in the I!. Most fre(uently they are called microcontroller
because they are used they are used to perform control functions.
The microcontroller contains full implementation of a standard
MI!R)PR)!;%%)R$ R)M$ R,M$ I<6$ !)!K$ TIM;R%$ and also
%;RI, P)RT%. Microcontroller also called 1system on a chip1 or 1single
chip microprocessor system1 or 1computer on a chip1.
, microcontroller is a !omputer/)n/,/!hip$ or$ if you prefer$ a
single/chip computer. Micro suggests that the device is small$ and controller
tells you that the device7 might be used to control objects$ processes$ or
events. ,nother term to describe a microcontroller is embedded controller$
because the microcontroller and its support circuits are often built into$ or
embedded in$ the devices they control.
Today microcontrollers are very commonly used in wide variety of
intelligent products. +or e8ample most personal computers keyboards and
implemented with a microcontroller. It replaces %canning$ "ebounce$ Matri8
