Originally in December of 2003, I received a notice from the City of Portsmouth advising that I need to repair my driveway which had sunken in. I was advised by Tony Vistardis to fill the hole with concrete and that would suffice. I filled the hole and later in the year the driveway began to sink again. In December, the sewage line back up and I called Tri-Star plumbing to come out and snake the line. They snaked the line and advised me to contact the city sewage department to clear the line at the clean out. I called and they cleared the line. This was about two weeks prior to Christmas. About mid-January I noticed that sewage was coming back up in the line at the city clean out again. I called the city and they came out to the house. When they arrived they advised that the sewage line was broken on the opposite side of the city clean out and it needed to be repaired. I called TriStar plumbing, which advised me that this was the city’s job to repair. After a two-hour argument between the city superintendent, Mr. Baltimore and another gentleman by the name of Smoke, I was advised to hire a plumber to get the line fixed. Every plumber who gave me an estimate advised that this was the city’s problem. Finally DLD arrived and advised that they could fix the problem for $1900. I hired within a week to correct the problem. DLD Plumbing was hired to remove a caved in driveway and repair a sewer line. The plumber, William worked on the line from Jan 29 to February 2. The first step was to remove the driveway and dig up the line. This occurred on or about 1/29/05. The plumber expressed to me on the following Monday that there was a lot of water in the hole and he could not figure out where it originates. I left the check for payment on Monday. The plumber advised that the city would investigate the water problem and he would then contact me. On Wednesday when I returned home the hole in the driveway was completed. I went on with my daily routine. Friday I started to wash clothes. I noticed soapy water bubbling from the hole. I called DLD on Saturday and William came out to investigate. He advised the line had collapsed again and he did not know what more he could do he had already lost $1000 on this job. He advised he would be back out on Monday. William came out on Tuesday with his Boss. After digging up the line again William advised that well points would be necessary because of the water in the hole. William advised that the additional work would be $1500 then his boss came over and advised $2500 so the job would be a wash and the company would not lose any money. I advised that I had already paid $1900 and why wasn't the problem addressed before the hole was covered back up. He ignored my question. He advised that without an up front payment that they would not complete the job. The plumbers covered up the hole and left me without any plumbing service. I called and spoke with Ron a few days later and advised I had consulted a new plumber who advised that had he taken care of the water problem before he covered up the hole then the he would not be necessary. I also consulted a lawyer. I called Ron for reconciliation because I paid $1900 and received no service. Ron refused and advised that the sewer line is broken in a new place is that's the reason for new charge. Per my contract this work should be covered.
