Premier League wrap: Chelsea edge
Arsenal, Manchester City shocked by West
Ham, Leicester comeback against Stoke
EPL Saturday night goals

KURT Zouma and Eden Hazard gave Chelsea a controversial 2-0 win over nine-man Arsenal
on Saturday while leaders Manchester City crashed to a shock 2-1 defeat against West Ham.
The acrimonious relationship between Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and Arsenal boss
Arsene Wenger seeped through to both teams at Stamford Bridge in a tetchy London derby
featuring even more flashpoints than usual.
And at Eastlands, Kevin de Bruyne’s first goal for Manchester City wasn’t enough to
salvage their 100 percent start against the Hammers, who have defeated Arsenal, Liverpool
and Manuel Pellegrini’s side in their first three away games this season.
City fell behind in the sixth minute when on-loan Chelsea winger Victor Moses fired home
from 20 yards for the first league goal conceded by Pellegrini’s club this term.
Senegal forward Diafra Sakho netted the visitors’ second from close-range in the 31st minute.
Belgium midfielder De Bruyne, a £55 million ($85 million, 75 million euros) signing from
Wolfsburg last month, marked his first City start with a clinical finish in first half stoppagetime.

But a brilliant Adrian save from Nicolas Otamendi’s header ended the hosts’ winning run at
five matches and lifted West Ham into second place.

At Stamford Bridge, Wenger was furious Mike Dean opted not to send off Diego Costa
following a clash with Laurent Koscielny and the referee further infuriated the Frenchman
when he dismissed Gabriel for kicking Costa and then showed Santi Cazorla a red card in the
second half.
“I would not like to be Mike Dean tonight. Costa twice should be sent off,” Wenger
said.News_Rich_Media: EPL: Watch Chelsea's Diego Costa politic the referee into sending
off Arsenal's Gabriel at the end of the first half during their English Premier League clash.
“In every game Costa has aggravation and he gets away with it because of the weakness of
the referee.” Mourinho’s response felt designed to provoke Wenger as he said: “I don’t have a
view on the sending off. Man of the match for sure was Diego Costa. He brought everything
to the game.”
Chelsea striker Costa was booked for shoving over Koscielny after whacking the Arsenal
defender in the face moments earlier. News_Rich_Media: EPL: Catch all the highlights from

Gunners defender Gabriel remonstrated with Costa and was booked for his complaints.
But the Brazilian couldn’t keep his emotions under control and in first-half stoppage-time he
aimed a sly kick at Costa right in front of the referee, who immediately brandished a red card.
Chelsea made their numerical advantage count in the 53rd minute when French defender
Zouma was left unmarked to head in a Cesc Fabregas free-kick.
Cazorla was sent off in the 79th minute when the Spanish midfielder caught Fabregas with an
ugly lunging tackle.News_Rich_Media: EPL: Catch all the highlights from Manchester City's

Belgium midfielder Hazard guaranteed the champions’ second league victory of the season in
the 90th minute when his strike deflected off Calum Chambers to leave the Gunners without
a league success against the Blues since 2011.
Odion Ighalo kept Newcastle in the relegation zone as the Nigerian forward’s double inspired
Watford’s 2-1 win at St James’ Park.

low strike and he increased their advantage with his fourth goal in six matches in the 28th
minute.

Watford resorted to route one for their second goal as a long ball from the back was helped on
by Troy Deeney before Ighalo finished with aplomb on 28 minutes.
It was the 26-year-old’s fourth goal already this season and 20th in his last 24 matches.
Newcastle ended a nearly 500-minute goal drought when Dutch defender Daryl Janmaat
netted in the 62nd minute, but McClaren’s team were unable to avoid their third consecutive
loss.
Janmaat had a chance to equalize in the 67th but Heurelho Gomes dived at full stretch to keep
out his hard shot. Newcastle were all over Watford at this juncture but Siem de Jong, a second
half substitute for Papiss Cisse, missed two chances.
“No-one said this job was going to be easy, we didn’t think it would be. We know now this is
a tough job,” Newcastle manager Steve McClaren said.
Ten-man Sunderland slipped to the bottom of the table after a 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth.
Eddie Howe’s side raced into a two-goal lead inside the first nine minutes, with Callum
Wilson striking in the fourth minute before Matt Ritchie smashed in a superb volley.
Sunderland’s miserable day was completed when French defender Younes Kaboul was sent
off for a second booking in the 74th minute.

For the opener, Wilson caught out Kaboul, turning away from the defender and blasting his
shot past Sunderland goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon.
And five minutes later, the Cherries doubled their advantage. Sunderland failed to clear a
corner kick properly and Ritchie, on the edge of the penalty box, took the ball on his chest
and volleyed a dazzling shot into the top left corner of the goal.
Advocaat threw on Jack Rodwell at the interval and the midfielder did revitalise the Black
Cats, seeing an effort deflected behind for a corner.
Jeremain Lens thought he had pulled one back for Bournemouth from the resulting set-piece
but his headed effort was wrongly ruled out for offside.

Saido Berahino came in from the cold to fire West Bromwich Albion to a 1-0 win at local
rivals Aston Villa.
Berahino had threatened to go on strike after Albion refused to sell him to Tottenham on
transfer deadline day and was dropped for several matches.

The Baggies came out firing with Villa goalie Brad Guzan producing a fine stop to keep out
striker Salomon Rondon’s flicked header.
Gabriel Agbonlahor set up a chance for the hosts after 26 minutes when he crossed for the
onrushing Carles Gil, but the effort was blocked by Claudio Yacob. News_Image_File: Tony
Pulis, manager of West Bromwich Albion talks to Saido Berahino as he comes on.
But Berahino nailed the opener six minutes before the break with Guzan keeping out another
Rondon drive on the hour before Villa were denied a penalty after 65 minutes.
Villa were again denied 20 minutes from time when Micah Richards headed past Boaz Myhill
but the hosts had already been awarded a free-kick following a foul on Jack Grealish.
Substitute Rudy Gestede headed over the hosts’ final chance in injury time with the win
putting West Brom into the top half of the table with Villa one place off the bottom three.
Leicester staged another impressive fightback to maintain their unbeaten record with a 2-2
draw at Stoke.
The hosts had been firmly in control, taking the lead in the 13th minute when the fit-again
Bojan Krkic -- making his first league start in eight months -- slotted home, before Jonathan
Walters pounced on a Wes Morgan error to make it 2-0 seven minutes later.

But Leicester, who came back from two goals down to beat Aston Villa last week, reduced
the deficit in the 51st minute through Riyad Mahrez’s penalty and Jamie Vardy then notched
the equaliser in the 69th minute.
Everton’s Kevin Mirallas was sent off for a foul on Modou Barrow in the final moments of
his side’s 0-0 draw at Swansea.
The Toffees had the better of the game as their boss Roberto Martinez returned to his former
club.
But they missed a host of chances to win an entertaining contest and then saw Mirallas
dismissed in stoppage-time for a high tackle on Modou Barrow.
