TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING & PLANNING SECTION
The post graduate section in transportation engineering & planning is established in 2007 with introduction of post graduate programme with intake of 25 seats. The section has four laboratories to carry out experimental work and research work for highway material characterisation, pavement evaluation, CAD in transportation planning and traffic simulation. All laboratories are equipped with state of art instruments, softwares as well as computational facilities. Section is handling research and development projects worth Rs.200 lacs with support from DST, Indian Roads Congress, CSIR-CRRI and NRRDA, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. The faculty members of the section are acting as State Technical Agency for Pradhan mantra Gram Sadak Yojana of the Central Government. At present 15 doctoral students are associated with the section carrying out research in diverse areas of traffic modelling, pavement design, travel demand modelling, parking policy formulation, utilisation of waste material in highway construction etc.. Faculty members and students of the section publish about 25 research papers annually through national and international journals, conferences and seminars. The section offers consultancy services to many government and private organisations in various fields and also takes up testing assignment for highway materials. Alumni of the section is well placed in highway industry as well as academic institutions. The section has active association with CSIR-Central Road Research Laboratory for research and developmental activities.
